Cookies Policy

Last updated 5 October 2026 · Covers the saintstamp.sh website and the Saint Stamp app

The short version

  • Saint Stamp does not use cookies — not on the website, and not in the app.
  • The website stores nothing on your device.
  • The app stores some information on your phone so it can work without signal and keep you signed in. Nearly all of it is essential for the app to work.
  • No advertising, no tracking, and nothing is shared with advertisers.

1. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Websites and apps can also save information using other browser features, such as local storage, IndexedDB and a service worker cache. This policy covers all of them.

2. The website (saintstamp.sh)

  • No cookies, no stored data, no analytics and no advertising trackers.
  • Phones that installed an early version of Saint Stamp from this address still have it registered. A small script removes it and its stored files, then removes itself. It saves nothing.
  • Our typefaces come from Google Fonts. Google Fonts does not set cookies, but your device does contact Google to fetch them, so Google receives your IP address.

3. The app (app.saintstamp.sh)

The app uses no cookies. It does store the following on your device:

WhatWhyHow long
Sign-in sessionKeeps you signed in, so you don't need a new code each time you open the appUntil you sign out
Your stampsYour passport, available with or without signalUntil you clear the app's data or remove the app
Stamps waiting to sendStamps scanned without signal, sent automatically when you're back onlineUntil they are sent
App files, walk information and map tilesLets the app, walk guides and trail map work offline out on the trailsUntil you clear the app's data; refreshed when the app updates
Settings and saved copiesYour preferences, plus saved copies of your profile, pass and leaderboards so they appear instantly, even offlineUntil you clear the app's data
Install preferencesRemembers whether you've installed the app, so we don't keep askingUntil you clear the app's data

What is essential

Everything in the table except dates of use is needed for the app to do what you asked: keep you signed in, hold your stamps, and work without signal. Dates of use helps us count how many people use Saint Stamp. It records dates only — never times — is never shared, and is never collected for guests.

4. Other services the app contacts

To show the trail map, text and photographs, your device fetches content directly from:

  • OpenStreetMap and OpenTopoMap — map tiles;
  • Google Fonts — typefaces;
  • St Helena Tourism — walk photographs.

These services receive your IP address and basic browser details when your device contacts them. Saint Stamp does not use them to track you.

5. How to clear it

  • Sign out — in the app, open Me and choose Sign Out. This ends your session on that device.
  • Clear the app's data — in your browser's settings, find app.saintstamp.sh under site settings and clear its stored data.
  • Remove the app — delete it from your home screen.

Before you clear anything: if you use guest mode, your stamps exist only on that device and clearing its data deletes them for good. If you have an account, your stamps are kept safely and come back when you sign in again.

If you block storage altogether, the app cannot keep you signed in or work without signal.

6. Changes to this policy

If we change what we store, we will update this page and the date at the top. We will not add advertising or tracking cookies without asking for your permission first.
